System size: 59.6kW
Panels: 149 x 400W
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) recently completed a new Performance and Innovation Centre (PIC). It was only fitting to outfit it with clean technology.
Kuby Energy was hired to complete the 60kW array. The panels sit on aluminum racking which is weighed down with concrete ballasts so no roof penetrations are required. The solar panels are fixed at a 10 degree tilt which allowed a high energy density to be placed on the roof.
This latest commercial solar power system is one of many installed by NAIT to teach the next generation of Alternative Energy Technologists coming out of the program.
The building receives excellent sun exposure and will produce clean solar energy for the next 25+ years. As with all micro-generation solar power systems, the energy is first used by the building and any excess energy is sold back to the grid for a credit on the user's power bill.
Kuby Energy was very proud to complete this project, in full, for the General Contractor, Clark Builders.
